GTA 6 releases 19 November 2026

The date has moved twice, which is worth knowing before you plan anything around it. Rockstar has not published a third change, and its pattern is that a date moves before it is missed.

   Take-Two formally announces Grand Theft Auto VI in development.

2. May 2023

   RDR2 publisher earnings guidance points GTA 6 at fiscal 2025.

3. Dec 2023

   First trailer confirms Leonida and Vice City, returning after thirteen years.

4. May 2025

   Rockstar delays from 2025 to 26 May 2026 — the first move.

5. Nov 2025

   Second delay, to 19 November 2026. Rockstar cites the time needed to finish at this scale.

6. 25 Jun 2026

   Pre-orders open: $79.99 Standard and $99.99 Ultimate on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

7. 12 Nov 2026

   Pre-load reported to begin for pre-orders — the download can finish before unlock.

8. 19 Nov 2026

   Release. Unlocks 5pm PT on 18 Nov, which is midnight 19 Nov in the UK.

Independently researched. Last checked 22 September 2026 against Rockstar's official announcements.

1. Pre-order on the right account

   Buy on the PSN or Microsoft account you actually play on. Licences bind to the account, not the console, and region-mismatched codes often will not redeem.

2. Clear storage before 12 November

   Rockstar has not published an install size, so assume it is large. Delete games you have finished and check free space on the internal drive, not an external one.

3. Enable background downloads

   PS5 needs Rest Mode with 'Stay Connected to the Internet'; Xbox needs Sleep mode plus 'Keep my games up to date'. This is the setting that decides whether the pre-load actually runs.

4. Redeem any physical code early

   Boxed editions contain a download code and no disc. Redeeming it starts the pre-load; leaving it sealed until launch day means downloading from zero when the queue is longest.

5. Plan for a day-one patch

   A release that has slipped twice usually still ships an update on day one. Budget time for it after unlock rather than assuming the pre-loaded file is complete.

Is GTA 6 out yet?

No. GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are open, but the game itself cannot be played or downloaded before that date.

Is GTA 6 on PC?

Not announced. Rockstar has confirmed GTA 6 only for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. No PC release date, storefront listing or system requirement has been published, so any site claiming a PC download is not telling the truth.

When does GTA 6 release?

19 November 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is Rockstar's third date: the game was originally planned for 2025, moved to 26 May 2026, then to 19 November 2026.

Why was GTA 6 delayed?

Rockstar cited the time needed to polish and complete a game of this scale in both delay announcements, with the second delay — from May to November 2026 — described as protecting the quality of the final product. No technical or commercial reasons beyond that were made public.

Will GTA 6 support mods on PC?

Unanswered. There is no announced PC version, so there is nothing to say about mod support. Rockstar's previous PC releases arrived with a single-player mod scene, but that is an expectation, not an announcement.

Can I play GTA 6 early?

No legitimate early access exists. Rockstar has not announced a beta, early access programme or launch-week trial. In September 2026 the official GTA 6 account posted 'GTA 6 has been leaked' as a joke, which is not a form of early access.
